Web copywriting - why keywords are key
For most small or medium businesses, SEO copywriting is both the most important and the most-cost effective way of getting high rankings on Google and other search engines.
What Google and the rest are looking for is good, relevant and frequently updated content. That means well-written copy, incorporating the most appropriate keywords.
Appropriate keywords are terms that people search with, and when they make that search, your site will stand a good chance of ending up near the top of the results. That's why an essential part of my work as a website copywriter is to undertake initial keyword research.
The trick is to not pick too general a term. It may get a lot of searches, but you'll be competing with lots of others for a first page ranking. Be too specific, on the other hand, and you may well top the rankings, but almost nobody will ever type that term into a search box.
The other essential is to use them in such a way that the text still reads well. With the right keywords inserted in the best places in your text, within a few months you should notice a dramatic difference in your website traffic - and enquiries.
